Tia Ana grew up in San Salvador, the victim of sexual abuse. With few options available to her, she was kicked out of her home and turned to work within the sex industry. Until, that is, she discovered the love of Christ and was miraculously transformed. From that time, she turned her back on her old lifestyle and all it involved. Still, her heart was burdened for the children of prostitutes in her city.
Nearly 20 years ago Tia Ana undertook to start a home. As she still had many friends working as prostitutes, she wanted to provide a place for their children to experience love, safety, and stability. Today, Tia Ana cares for nearly twenty-five children, from birth through high school. And while she provides for them in every way she can, the house she currently rents is small and in need of serious repair.
Having no real economic model to implement, the children are often in need of clothing, school supplies, and even food. As such, this home is reliant on a few faithful donors to make ends meet. We would like to change that, creating a model of sustainability to allow Tia Ana’s Place to thrive for years to come.
